Award winning Italian artist explores the creative potential of vacuum forming

Formech is proud to support the young Italian artist Ludovica Carbotta, winner of GallarateArt Prize and selected for the prestigious prize at Maxxi Iin Rome.

Ludovica’s work entitled Monowe is a phantasmagorical reconstruction of city segments lived and conceived for one person only. A fundamental part of the installation shown at the GallaratePrize is composed of a series of thermoformed PETG sheets in 2mm thickness, realised on Formech’s TF series machine.

With technical assistance from Formech, Ludovica was able to fine-tune the vacuum forming process to meet her artistic objectives.

Ludovica explains: “The final installation at MAGA Museum in Gallarate displays a series of blank-objects with an industrial appeal but crafted for one person only. The curious use of the process and the absurd aspects of Monowe invites us to reflect on our habitat and common devices as well as on our post internet isolation within the multiplicity.”
